Who we are and how to contact us

WGTakt is an independent student project and mobile app for shared households to coordinate chores, reminders, member availability, shared expenses, settlements, household activity, and local community discovery. It is not a registered company.

Google sign-in data

When you choose Continue with Google, WGTakt uses Google OAuth only to sign you in, create or link your WGTakt account, prevent account duplication, and maintain your authenticated session.

The Google data WGTakt requests is limited to your Google user ID, email address, email verification status, display name, and profile picture if Google provides one. The OAuth scopes are limited to basic sign-in profile and email information.

WGTakt does not request or access your Google Contacts, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Photos, or other Google account content. WGTakt does not use Google user data for advertising, cross-app tracking, sale, or unrelated profiling.

Google profile data may be stored with your WGTakt user account so your household can recognize you, so you can sign in again, and so provider-linked email addresses can be routed back to the correct sign-in method.

Apple sign in and community safety

Apple sign in supplies your account identity, and may supply your name and email the first time. WGTakt stores an encrypted Apple authorization token so that account deletion can revoke access without requiring repeated identity collection. External revocation is retried if Apple is temporarily unavailable.

With your permission, submitted account/profile details, social direct messages, listing applications, references, RSVP notes and household polls, is sent to TypeSafe.ai for automated safety checks. Account identifiers are not included in the request. Personal information you put in the text remains part of the submitted text. You can withdraw this permission in privacy settings; features that use these AI text checks request permission before submitting their text. Household group chats and private household event descriptions are not sent for these AI checks.

Uncertain text from those AI-checked features is held for staff review. Social posts, their captions, comments, room listings, community events, WG pages and mover pages publish without an AI or staff approval step; they can be reviewed following a user report. Deterministic abuse, payment-detail and rate-limit protections still apply. Your profile photo updates after authentication, image validation, resizing and removal of metadata; these technical checks are not an automated content-safety judgment. All uploaded photos become available immediately after authenticated image validation, resizing and removal of metadata. Uploading a photo does not send it for staff review or an AI image assessment. A photo can enter the review queue only when a user reports it after it has been shared in the public community network. Private household chat attachments, upload drafts and personal profile avatars do not enter that photo-report queue. Action on a reported community photo removes its community visibility without clearing an avatar or household chat attachment that uses the same image. For questions or an appeal, contact iris@wgtakt.com. WGTakt review records and profile-photo publication receipts are removed when your account is deleted. Providers may retain processing, security or backup records under their agreements and retention policies; deleting your WGTakt records does not by itself erase every external copy.

Data we collect

Account identity: email address, display name, user ID, authentication provider, provider user ID, email verification state, optional profile image, language preference, and account status. Optional structured profile fields include birthday, gender identity and visibility choices, occupation, room label, move-in details and your distinct member colour within a household.

Household content: household names, member names and roles, chores, assignments, due times, status, scoring, rescue state, schedule and availability windows, away state, invite records, device registrations, notification state, and auditable activity history.

Financial household content: expense titles, amounts, currencies, participants, paid-by member, notes, settlements, balances, recurring expense settings, shopping items and quantities, recorded buyers and linked purchase costs, and related activity records.

Community content: public WG page fields, public profile details, posts, comments, reactions, room listings, listing applications, events, RSVPs, mover profiles, messages, saves, follows, reports, blocks, and moderation records when those features are used.

User-provided media: optional profile, household, listing, marketplace, event, or feed photos when you choose to upload them.

Location and address data: address search terms and selected place details help set household or event locations. If you choose Use my current location, precise device coordinates are sent through the WGTakt API to Google Maps to find an address. Google may retain request parameters in its service logs according to its policies. WGTakt stores approximate or fuzzed coordinates for public community discovery; selected address text can remain attached to an event or household. Precise coordinates are not exposed on public community surfaces.

Technical and security metadata: request metadata, IP-derived rate-limit keys, device platform, push token, notification delivery state, provider errors, logs, and diagnostics needed to secure and operate the service.

Android preview enrollment: when you explicitly request Android test access on the website, WGTakt stores the Google Play email you provide, language, consent time, enrollment source, setup-email delivery state, and a one-way IP hash used for abuse prevention.

Product analytics: with website consent, WGTakt records a first-party random visitor ID, landing and download-button events, campaign tags, referrer hostname, language, and timestamps. In app versions with the optional diagnostics setting, installation analytics and Sentry crash reporting are off until enabled in Privacy. Earlier versions may record installation and session events. App analytics can include a random installation ID, first app open, app sessions, referral actions, app version, platform, and household lifecycle milestones. Authenticated events may be linked to the relevant user and household so conversion and retention can be measured.

Data we do not intentionally collect

WGTakt does not intentionally collect contacts, SMS content, audio recordings, health data, fitness data, advertising identifiers, or third-party ad tracking data. Precise device coordinates are not shared on public community surfaces.

Photos and videos outside optional user-provided uploads are not collected. SMS is only allowed for optional roommate invite links and is not used for reminders, overdue alerts, rescues, settlements, or summaries.

How data is used

We use data to provide and personalize app functionality, authenticate users, authorize household access, calculate task assignment and household balances, deliver reminders, keep an auditable household history, support exports and deletion, prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and operate the service reliably.

Operational notifications use push, email, and in-app channels. Push notifications are sent only for app functionality such as reminders, invitations, task actions, messages, applications, RSVPs, comments, and account/service messages.

For Android preview enrollment, WGTakt uses the submitted email only to send one setup email with the Google tester-group, Play confirmation, and install links. It is not enrolled in a newsletter. Google separately receives the Google account you choose when you join the tester group and confirm the Play test.

Optional AI assistance uses OpenAI for chore instructions, household chore suggestions and recipe suggestions. Before each request, the app asks permission to send the relevant chore title, area, instruction text, setup notes or recipe preferences. WGTakt does not append account identifiers, unrelated messages or documents. Personal information typed into those fields is still included, so remove private information first. Declining keeps manual features available. Contract drafting and document text extraction for AI are disabled.

If billing is enabled, WGTakt uses billing data to start trials, maintain subscription status, route checkout or portal requests, and enforce plan limits. WGTakt stores subscription status and provider IDs; payment card details are handled by the payment processor and are not stored by WGTakt.

WGTakt uses product analytics to understand whether households complete setup, invite real roommates, complete a first chore, return after seven days, refer another shared home, and convert a trial. Analytics never includes message bodies, chore titles, household names, addresses, expense notes, uploaded media, or advertising identifiers.

Sharing, processors, and public visibility

WGTakt does not sell personal data or use it for cross-app advertising tracking.

Data may be processed by service providers used to operate WGTakt, including hosting, database, email, file storage, address lookup, push notification, payment, first-party product analytics, operational logging, and AI service providers where a feature requires them.

Push notifications are delivered through Expo Push Service and platform push services. Address autocomplete and place details are processed through the WGTakt API and Google Maps Platform when location features are used. Uploaded media may be stored through cloud object storage and served through a CDN. Siri and Shortcuts are optional: saved phrases and available chore names are held in the native shortcut catalog for your current account and household. WGTakt does not record microphone audio; expense voice commands open an editable draft, not an automatic transaction.

When Android test access is requested, the email provider delivers the one-time setup message. If you follow its Google links, Google Groups processes the account you use to join the tester group and Google Play uses that membership to determine closed-test eligibility.

Household operations data is visible only to authorized members of the relevant household. Public community features may intentionally publish the content you or your household choose to make public, such as WG pages, listings, events, mover profiles, and public posts. Blocks, reports, and moderation controls limit visibility where applicable.

WGTakt may disclose information if required to comply with law, enforce terms, protect users, investigate abuse, or maintain service security.

Export, deletion, and retention

Household members can create an audited household export from Settings → Help & privacy → Privacy & data. Exports include household metadata, settings, members, chores, assignments, expenses, shares, settlements, availability, and activity.

Account deletion is available in Settings → Help & privacy → Privacy & data, also reachable through Profile & account. Deletion anonymizes the user profile, disables push devices, cancels pending notifications, removes active memberships, and invalidates existing app tokens.

If the deleted account is the only active member of a household, that household and its household-owned rows are deleted. In multi-member households, task, expense, settlement, and activity records may be retained in anonymized form so shared household history remains coherent.

When an owner deletes their account, ownership passes to an active administrator or another active member. Personal posts, comments, messages, profiles and uploaded media are removed, with external file deletion retried if needed. Shared contracts that have been sent or signed retain details needed by the other parties. Some records may be retained where needed for security, auditability, legal compliance, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or backup restoration.

Website visitors can decline product analytics before a first-party analytics identifier is created. Analytics linked to a deleted household is deleted with that household; user references are removed when the associated account is deleted. Aggregated, non-identifying project metrics may remain.

Android preview enrollment records are retained while the closed test is active so consent can be audited and duplicate setup emails can be prevented. You can leave the Google tester group directly and request deletion of the WGTakt enrollment record through iris@wgtakt.com.

Security

WGTakt uses authenticated API sessions, household membership authorization, tenant-scoped database access, event logs for meaningful state changes, durable notification queues, rate limits, and production access controls to protect the service.

No internet service can be guaranteed perfectly secure. If you believe your account or household data is at risk, contact iris@wgtakt.com.

Children

WGTakt is intended for shared household coordination by adults and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through WGTakt, contact iris@wgtakt.com so we can review and delete it where required.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when WGTakt changes, when providers change, or when legal requirements change. The effective date on this page shows the current version. Material changes will be reflected on this page and, where appropriate, in the app or by email.
